Mrs. Annie Henson The body of Mrs. Annie Henson, who died at the home of her son, George A. Cox, at Cheyenne, Okla., Sunday ar- in Prairie Grove Wednesday, accompanied by Mr. Cox, and a daughter, Mrs. R. E. Lewis. of Vinita, Okla., and was taken. to the Methodist church where funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock, by Rev. J. F. McCuistion and Rev. Edward Forrest. Burial was made in the Prairie Grove cemetery. Mrs. Henson was born in Missouri, Jan. 20, 1856. died. August 26, 1928, age 72 years. She was first married. to Edward Cox and to this union. two children were born: Geo.! A. Cox, Cheyenne, Okla., and Mrs. R. E. Lewis, Vinita, Okla. Mr. Cox was killed by the accidental discharge of a gun, on the plains, as they were moving alone in a wagon, from Missouri to Texas, when the children were less than three years of age. She made a fire. and kept the wolves from devouring them for the night and the next day, with her own hands and alone, dug a grave and buried her husband, continuing the journey with the babies. Some years later she was married to Captain Henry Henson and to this union four children were born: Mrs. Ettie Rogers, Ft. Smith, Ark.; Mrs. F. E. Simpson, Tahlequah, Oklahoma; Henry Henson, Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Claud Henson, Seminole, Okla. All of the children were present at the funeral except Claude. Mrs. Henson had been a member of the Methodist church since early girlhood. She had many friends in Prairie Grove where she lived for a number of years and where] Capt. Henson died in 1916.
