Maryville-Alcoa Times 8/24/1977 Rankin, 91, dies at Asbury Acres Reu R. Rankin, 91, died Tuesday at Asbury Acres Health Center. He was born in Jefferson County, but had lived the past 10 years in Maryville. He was retired in 1951 in Newton, Kan., from the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church in Kansas and was later a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. A.L. Alexander of Maryville and Mrs. Thomas D. Rose, Jr. of Kingsport; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grandview Cemetery with the Rev. Glenn Bays officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at McCammon-Ammons Funeral Home.
