Admitted to the bar, 1876; he married in Dayton, Ohio, Nov 27, 1877, Harriet Guest Morrison. In 1876-78 he was assistant United States attorney for the southern district of Iowa. City attorney in Keokuk, Iowa. Assistent General Counsel Pullman Company, 1889-95; Assistent General Attorney, 1895-1905, and General Attorney beginning Jan 1, 1906. In 1903-05 he was president of the Chicago rock Island and Pacific railroad company of Iowa. He residence was in Keswick, Va.
