Otto Nicholas Sturm

Robert J. Sturm of Stanberry, Mo. Died on Sept 11, 2014 and if Helen goes by Elizabeth, then it is possible that Robert was one of their children. Robert might be a 3rd Cousin, Once Removed. It appears that Helen was Otto's second wife. His first wife Elizabeth Evans, apparently died before 1940. Three of the sons, Ralph, Leo Otto and Paul ended up in a Kansas City school for orphan boys in the 1940 census. Couldn't find the death certificate (likely not Missouri) for Elizabeth nor Otto N. in the 1940 Census. But then, for some reason, the Sturm surname keeps getting messed over (e.g. 1920). The family is found on the 1940 census in Kansas City, Jackson, MO although the boys you mention as being in an orphanage aren't listed at home: Otto Sturne 51 Elizabeth Sturne 49 Eileen Sturne 22 Marie Sturne 17 Larry Sturne 20 Robert Sturne 14 Perhaps the younger boys were sent away to school rather than to the orphanage? The institution appears to have 2 names Kansas City Orphans Home and School for Boys. It seems Otto and Elizabeth got divorced. He married Helen Grimberg in 1942. It was her second marriage as well. She was married previously to Samuel Howard Brimberg. It is unknown what her maiden name was.
