Jacob Secrest was the youngest son [the is an error] of Jacob and Mary (Moore) Secrest. He was born in Virginia [Hampshire Co., currently located in West Virginia], but brought to Ohio when five years old. On growing to manhood he married Margaret Nicholson, who was born March 6, 1811, and died Feb 3,1875. They lived on the old home farm with the father and on his death bought out the other heirs and continued to make that their home as long as they lived. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Secrest.
