Research Notes
Funeral services for Mrs. W.B. Pounds, 81, of Newcastle were conducted from the Olney Church of Christ with Portis Ribble, minister, officiating.
Mrs. Pounds had been a resident of Young County since 1878. She had been a victim of cancer and had been ill about eight weeks.
Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Alford, Mrs. Pounds came to Young County with her parents at the age of one year.
Miss Minnie Swanson Alford married W.B. Pounds on 4 May 1901 at her parent's home in Graham, Texas. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors: son - Horace Pounds of Newcastle; five daughters - Mrs. W.D. Womack of Olney, Mrs. E.W. Morgan and Mrs. Elzy Smith, both of Newcastle, Mrs. Alvin Clifton of Walters, Oklahoma; Mrs. J.J. Riggins of Graham, three sisters - Mrs. Annie Newby, Mrs. Lud Martin, Mrs. W.S. Fain, all of Graham; two brothers - C.B. Alford of Amarillo, J.H. Alford of Lincoln, NE; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
