Billy Dale Carte, 80, of Prairie Grove, Arkansas passed away on October 4, 2026. He was born on March 24, 1946 to Lacy and Nola (Hodges) Carte.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lacy and Nola (Hodges) Carte, and his brothers, Clifford Carte and James Glenn "Jim" Carte, nephews, Brian Carte, Brett Scroggins and Dan Montgomery, nieces Barbara Ann Christie and Tammy Bristow-Carte, and one brother-in-law Harold "Butch" France.
Billy is survived by his wife, Barbara (France) Carte of 43 years, his children, Cindy Stines and husband Chad of Lincoln, AR, Ricky Carte and wife Brandy of Prairie Grove, AR, and Karen Lankford and husband Toby of Prairie Grove, AR, his grandchildren, Shyanna Hamilton, Alisyn Carte, Colton Crainshaw, Caleb Carte, Hayden Lankford, and Hueston Lankford, and his sister-in-law, Janelle Nunneley of Prairie Grove, siblings, Wanda Rutherford and husband Don of Lincoln, AR, Gordon Carte and wife Gail of Prairie Grove, AR, and Dennis Carte and wife Sharon of Prairie Grove, AR.
Billy spent his entire life living on Cove Creek in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. He served in the Army Reserves Unit HHC,172D, Direct Support Group in Fort Chaffee, AR (63 Bravo) as a light wheeled vehicle mechanic. Billy was a union laborer for several years. He was a heavy equipment operator for Washington County Road Department for 33 years where he found great pride and purpose in operating a dozer. He retired in 2009 and what began as a career turned into a true passion. After retirement, he loved working the farm, gardening, working in the hay, spending time with family, fishing, and teaching his grandchildren the ways of life.
He was a strong man with a hardworking heart, a farmer who took pride in the land he worked and a family man who took even greater pride in those he loved. He made friends wherever he went and left a piece of himself with everyone and anyone he met.

Honorary Pallbearers: Jason Carte, Joe Rutherford and Brinden Bristow.
Visitation will be held at Luginbuel Funeral Home Thursday, October 8, 2026 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. The Funeral service will be at Luginbuel Funeral Home Friday, October 9, 2026 at 10:00 am. A graveside service will follow immediately after at Garrett Creek Cemetery.
