Eugene Alton Davenport
91, of Farmington, passed away peacefully at home September 26, 2026 with family.
Eugene Davenport was born June 29, 1935, he was the 1st child of Leon and Eva Davenport of Northville New York. He was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Eva Davenport, his siblings Larry and Garry Davenport, and his wife Shirley Davenport, and his beloved dog Buttons.
Shortly after graduating college, Eugene started his career being a Civil Engineer for the State of Illinois, in this time Eugene met the love of his life Shirley. They shared a life of devotion, raising their three beautiful boys together. He shared his love of hunting and fishing with his boys as they grew up.
Eugene went on to retire after devoting 38 years of steadfast work to the State of Illinois. Shortly after retiring Eugene committed his time to help raising his grandkids. He taught them how to read various types of books, listen to a lot of country music, and how to dance. Eugene loved a good game of chess and would spend most of his afternoons or evenings playing chess or cards with his family. He spent his time doing a lot of yard work keeping his grass mowed, healthy, and green. Eugene was a very devoted family man; he passed down a lot of love and wisdom that will be cherished for generations.
Eugene was survived by his three sons and their families: Steve Davenort and his wife Lila of Pau France; Doug Davenport and his wife Stephanie of Prairie Grove Arkansas: and Dave Davenport and his wife Holly of West Fork Arkansas; and his most prize possessions were his grandchildren; Rheana Davenprt of Farmington Arkansas, Wade Davenport and his wife Audrey of Fayetteville Arkansas, and Braylee Davenport of West Fork Arkansas.
