Obituary

James "Jim" William Stewart

Age 75, a resident of Farmington, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born December 29th, 1947 in Marble Falls, Arkansas, the son of John Alstin and Frances Mariar (Harp) Stewart.

Jim retired from the United States Air Force after 26 years and later from the United States Postal Service after 26 years. He was an active member of the Farmington church of Christ. Jimmy was an avid Razorback sports fan and passionate about photography. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Working on the U-2 Spyplane was one of the highlights of his life, hence his nickname, U-2 Stew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Virginia Platt, Iva Ella Stewart Busby, and Kathleen Stewart; and one brother, Ernest Thomas Stewart.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Georgia Elsiedean Stewart; two daughters Frances Stewart McLeod, and her husband Matthew, and Mary Ann Stewart Parham, and her husband Hunter; two grandchildren, Caleb Andrew McLeod and Emma Addison McLeod; three brothers John Edward Stewart and his wife Ruth, Floyd Joseph Stewart, and Ross Alstin Stewart; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 1st, 2023, 6:00-7:00 at Luginbuel Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023, at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Farmington church of Christ Thursday Bible School Program- http://www/farmingtonchurchofchrist.com/give

Sorry to learn of your loss. Jimmy was a good friend when he worked at the Jonesboro Post Office and a good Christian. I know that he will be greatly missed.

I had the opportunity and privilege of working with Stew at USPS. When I think of him, the phrase "GET TO WORK" is the first thing that comes to mind. Lol if he ever seen people standing around, he would casually go by, check their trash and then proceed with his famous phrase. He was such a kind soul and someone who imprinted on me at a young age. Prayers for peace and comfort over this sweet family ??

You don’t have very many lifelong friends and brother & sister in Christ, and when you do, you hope they’re as wonderful as Jim and ElsieDean Stewart. It has been many years since we’ve seen one another, but we have precious memories of the times together. Jim always had a huge smile on his face and greeted you with a big hug. He always made you feel special. He was the one who was special! He will be very missed, but we know he’s rejoicing with our Lord. “Well done good and faithful servant.”

Uncle Jimmy was the best uncle you could ask for... It was because of him i made somthing of my life and followed in his footsteps and joined the millitary and then met up with him in England to enjoy more bonding time. Jimmy u may be gone from this earth but u are not forgotten thanks for being a blessing in my life .... Jesus has got you now nothing better to ask than that. Life is short and this is our Goal to go home to our Father ..hope to see you on the flip side uncle. Love and Prayers for your family.
