Obituary

Leslie Ellen Cox

Age, 56, a resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, passed away January 12, 2024, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She was born October 20, 1967 in Phoenix, Arizona to Lawrence and Barbara Balding (Westfall).

She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Balding; her mother, Barbara Powell; and an infant son, Brandon Cox.

She is survived by her husband, Barry Cox of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; her children, Kelsey Cox and Cameron Cox both of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; and Ashley Cox of Dallas, Texas; her in-laws, Douglas and Gayle Cox of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Diana Lewis of Lincoln, Arkansas; nieces and nephews, Taylor and Loren Lewis of Springdale, Arkansas; Sammie and Mattie Calvillo of Springdale, Arkansas; great nephews, other family and friends.

She graduated from Fayetteville High School. She attended college at the University of Central Arkansas. She worked for both the cities of Maumelle, Arkansas and Fayetteville, Arkansas. Her greatest job though was being a homemaker. She loved camping and boating at various lakes with the family. She was an avid reader. She loved a good mystery book. She was a caring, loving, friendly person that was easy to talk to. She sacrificed a lot to care for her mother during her mother’s final years. She was a very tough person. She faced cancer with courage, dignity, and grace. She will be missed dearly.

The family would like to thank all the Doctors, Nurses, and staff at Highlands Oncology, and at the Circle of Life Hospice, and also all the family and friends that have supported us during this difficult time.

A Memorial Service will take place at Luginbuel Funeral Home, 115 N. Neal St., Prairie Grove, Arkansas on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 3:00 pm. In Lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a donation to be made in her name to the Cancer Society, Arkansas Children’s Hospital or the Circle of Life Hospice.

I have thought and think about you all the time. All the fun we had as kids. Taking that train from St Louis and about sick with boredom. I have loved you since the day you were born. It’s too bad that adult life got in the way of us spending more time together. What a wonderful mother you have been. What a wonderful person you have been. My heart goes out to Barry and the children. My heart is breaking right now, I know we will see each others again. But, for now I get to grieve. Love you to the moon and back.

Kelsey, Ashley, and Cameron,

I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. She had such spunk, such personality, and loved to talk about you guys. She was one of those parents you loved to chat with at parent teacher conferences because she was so funny and it also helped that she had really great kiddos. :). Praying for each of you and your dad in the days ahead.

Love,

Mrs. Dixon
