I think of Les often. We worked side-by-side on Ward 2A in Phoenix, Arizona. (Laverne, Lesters' brother, worked in the ICU.) Les was, by far, one of the most dependable caregivers I ever worked with. You never worried of any patient's needs being overlooked when Les was on the shift with you. Les was very likable and always joined in on a good joke as we were always working under alot of stress in those days taking care of around 40 patients each 12-8 shift-just the two of us. We supported each other always and went through alot of difficult times together. Unfortunately, we didn't keep touch after Les & Laverne returned to Arkansas, but not because there were any problems. It would have been nice to know Lesters' family simply because anyone associated with Lester will always be welcome simply because of the man (in Lester) that I knew. I hope to see him again on Higher Ground.

Three months ago I got Lesters number, and was going to call him. I wanted to know how things were. Needless to say I was not fast enough with my call. This is a little late, but my thoughts and prayers go out to Lesters family. May he rest in peace.

I was off a couple of weeks back when Lester was in the VA and missed seing him. He saved me from being stabbed in the back by a deranged patient once about 20 years ago and I never forgot it. I wish I could have thanked him again before he left us. I'll have to do it in person one of these days. Just wanted his family to know he was a hero to me and was always fun to be around. He'll be missed. You all take care.
