I was very saddened to hear about the loss of a very good and dear friend. My first memories of Russell were well before starting school when my mother asked me to give some of my toys to a little boy that had lost all of his to a house fire. From that day Russell was a very dear friend to me. He always tried to do it all sports, band or what ever else came up. I was very saddened to hear of your loss. During my junior high school days I remember Russell being the handsome football star and Guatha the beautiful cheerleader; and both so kind. The death of Russell has touched so many people. God had his reason for taking Russell so early in life. Russell is in a better place and he is working for God now. The Laycox and Kley families have great love, respect and affection for Russell and the Pitts family.

It was such a joy to know Russell as a teenager. He was such an exceptional athlete and his many accomplishments were a pleasure to watch. More importantly with all his accolades and awards, he remained very humble, friendly, and respectful. Russell was a terrific roll model for his peers and younger people. Rainy and Russ always appreciated the very positive influence he had on their son Damon.

As he progressed in to adulthood he remained that wonderful person we always enjoyed. He certainly was the epitome of the great Arkansas neighbor. Many hours were spent by Russell in the community in helping young people work and reach for goals, helping make their lives have momentum to living useful and productive lives.
