Obituary

Ulon “Fae” Barnes, age 84, passed away on February 16, 2019. He was born on March 24, 1934, in Ozark, Arkansas, to Tom and Sally (Carter) Barnes. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; Tommie Barnes, John Harvey Barnes “Jake”, and JD Barnes, three sisters; Mattie May Milan, Myrtle Funkhouser, and Anna Mae Barnes.

Fae served in the U.S. Air Force and through his military travels he continued his passions for art and nature. During his years of service for the U.S. Postal Service, he continued to grow his stamp collection. He displayed his artwork at Fayetteville Underground for Artist of Color: Crossing Borders Exhibit. He had a green thumb and loved his flowers and gardening. He maintained Bean Cemetery in Lincoln until his health wouldn’t allow him to continue.

He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Barker-Wilks; his brother, Arthur Barnes; his four nephews, Bobby Barker, Lafayette Barker, Floyd Barker and Laythaniel “Butch” Barker; his nieces, Diane Ray, Patricia Pendergrass, Teresa Gray; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and greats.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00pm on Friday, February 22, 2019, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Combs Street Church of Christ at 502 S Combs Avenue, Fayetteville, AR 72701. Interment will follow at Bean Cemetery in Lincoln.
