William Nick "W.N" Vafakos

Age 94, a resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Arkansas State Veterans Home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born June 13, 1930 in Strickler, Arkansas, the son of James and Hazel (Crawley) Vafakos.

W.N. retired from the Lincoln School District as Asst. Superintendent. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Paul Vafakos and Philinopolis Vafakos.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years Dr. Virginia Woods Vafakos; one son Patrick "Nicco" Vafakos of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; two daughters Katrina "Thea" Vafakos of Palatine, Illinois, and Varoniquica "Gely" Clay of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; seven grandchildren Brooklyn Berry, Lamon Berry, Baeley Berry, Markus Vafakos, Kailo Clay, DJ Clay, and Ariah Clay.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 17, 2025, 6:00-7:00 PM at Luginbuel Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 18th, 2025, at Bug Scuffle Cemetery in West Fork, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Bug Scuffle Cemetery.

W.N. was a kind, honest, very caring person and a great principal. I had the privilege of working as his secretary at the Lincoln Elementary School for several years and he always conducted himself in a very professional manner. I am so sorry hearing of his passing and Virginia and family have my prayers.
