Bernice Elizabeth May
Age 87, a resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024 in Altus, Oklahoma. She was born September 28, 1936 in Strickler, Arkansas, the daughter of John J. and Ollie (Sawyer) Sharp.
Bernice married the love of her life, Bob May, on January 1, 1977. She worked at Tyson Foods for many years. She idolized her grandchildren and moved to Altus, Oklahoma to be closer to them and family several years ago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bobby Gene May, two sisters Evelyn Sherry and Alma Patton, one brother Ted Sharp, and grandson Jay Jordan.
Survivors include two daughters Janet Abernethy and her husband Darrell of Altus, Oklahoma, Barbara Murray and her husband Don of Canadian, Oklahoma; one sister Norma Dobbs of Fayetteville, Arkansas; eight grandchildren Angie Marple and husband Kevin, Parker Cornett and husband Jett, Grady Thompson and wife Kristin, Jennifer Carey, Justin Murray, Blair Abernethy, Danelle Randolph and Jody Pinkerton; nineteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, February 10th, 2024, at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Burial will be in the Old Union Cemetery in Cincinnati, Arkansas, there will be no graveside service held.
