Research Notes

Dwain Henry Skelton, age 85, of Easton, Kansas, died September 17, 2022, in hospice care in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born January 12, 1936 in the Black Oak Community in Washington County, Arkansas, the son of Henry Eli and Pricilla Faye (Anderson) Skelton. Dwain was a beloved husband, dad, brother, uncle, pawpaw and great pawpaw who served his Lord and country faithfully. He joined the Army, after High School, and served in Germany. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Kansas Air National Guard and served in South Korea with the 127th Tactical Fighter Squadron. Dwain later worked for the Department of the Army where he served for over a decade. He eventually retired from the Air Force as a Major. Dwain was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed teaching Bible classes and preaching God's word. Dwain was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 67 years, Betty Lou (Anderson) Skelton, five brothers and five sisters. He is survived by two sons, J.D. (Jamie) Skelton and Johnny (Leslie) Skelton; a daughter, Janey (Wayne) Reno; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Apryl, Heather, Sherry, Katrina, Benjamin and Michelle; 12 great grandchildren; and a brother, Pierson. Burial is in the Black Oak Cemetery, east of Winslow, Arkansas.
