Marcus Jerome Rankin

Marcus J Rankin,86,died at the home of a son in Lee's Summit where he had been staying the past two weeks while he was an out-patient at an Overland Park hospital.

Mr.Rankin was a Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. lineman before he retired in December 1963.He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Big Springs;Lecompton Lodge No 420,AF&AM at Lecompton;Adah Chapter No 7 of Order of Eastern Star at Lawrence and was a life member of Telephone Pioneers of America.

He was married to Avis Ruth Hutchison Aug 9,1928. She died Nov 2 1971.

Survivors included two daughters:

Mrs Doris A Shay of Topeka

Mrs Shirley R Schwanke of Big Springs

a son:

William Rankin of Lee's Summit,Missouri

a brother:

Charles Rankin of Shawnee Mission

and

eight grandchildren

and two great grandchildren
