Obituary

Carolyn "Sue" Sanders, a resident of Lincoln for over 50 years, passed away on June 23, 2024.

Sue was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, sister and friend. Sue was a member of 1st Baptist Lincoln and dearly loved her church.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Alvin Sanders, her parents Frank and Magnolia Marrs, a sister Peggy Osborn, brothers, Mac Marrs, Tommy Marrs, and Jimmy Marrs and grandson Orey Hopper.

Sue graduated high school from Farmington in 1955. She attended the U of A for nurse's training and while there met Al. It was love at first sight. Sue never cared much for athletes but Al changed all of that for her. They were married shortly after meeting and Sue went with Al during his minor league ball career. Later they settled down in Springdale, Arkansas and had three children. Al was transferred to Florida where they lived for seven years before returning to Arkansas and making their final home in Lincoln, Arkansas.

One of Sue's greatest joys was helping others. She loved pointing people to her Lord. She gave Godly counsel and a listening ear. Sue was especially close to her Sunday school class that she taught years ago.

Sue is survived by her three children, Jeff Sanders (Aimee), Joe Sanders (Iris), Jennifer Hopper (Scott), two sisters, Betty Pharr and Ann Dorman Cooper (Gary) and one brother Keith Marrs (Sharon), her sweet dog, Sadie Sue along with many grandchildren, great grand children and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1st Baptist Church in Lincoln on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 1:00pm with a private family burial at Buckeye cemetery.

Pallbearers:

Michael Sanders, J.J. Sanders, Herbert Dorman III, Gene Pharr, Kaid Hopper, and Keith Marrs.

Honorary Pallbearers are her ladies from her Sunday school class.

Sue was very patriotic. In lieu of flowers please thank a veteran or fly an American flag; that would make her smile

Sue was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She certainly was a perfect representative of the kind of Christian we all should strive to be. There is a special place in my heart for the entire Sanders family. Love you and praying for you ????
