Floyd “Head Man” Calvin Cantrell, born September 25, 1939 in Bugscuffle, Arkansas, died peacefully at his home in West Fork, Arkansas on June 21, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his father, J. C. Cantrell, mother Nellie Cantrell, and daughter Connie Cantrell.
Floyd is survived by his wife of sixty years, Irene Cantrell, his son Jay Cantrell and wife Kelly, and his daughter Kim Davis and husband Rich. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren; Wacey Murphy, Ethan Murphy and wife Whitney, Clayton Cantrell, Baylea Cantrell, James O’Connor, and Jordan O’Connor; three great-grandchildren; Skylar Murphy, C.J. Murphy and Parker Cade. Floyd is also survived by his sister, Joyce Williams.
The nickname ‘Head Man’, which Floyd was known by for some seventy years, was given to him by Jim Williams when Floyd was a boy of about nine or ten when he spent many of his free hours helping out doing odd jobs around Carter’s Grocery Store in West Fork.
Floyd was buried at Bugscuffle Cemetery under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home, and to honor his wishes, no services were held. The family deeply appreciates the excellent care he received from the wonderful team of doctors and nurses at The Walker Heart Institute and Washington Regional Hospice.
