Michael Butch Bartholomew 2/9/1952-6/17/2026

To know Butch was to know a man who never stopped showing up for the people and causes he cared about. Whether through decades of public service, his love of music, the traditions he carried forward, or the relationships he nurtured, Butch spent his life bringing people together and making a difference.

For 44 years, Butch proudly served his community as City Manager. His leadership and tireless work ethic was more than a career; it was a calling, and he took great pride in serving the community he loved. His dedication to public service extended beyond his professional responsibilities. Butch served as Chairman of the Washington Water Authority and served as a director with the AR Rural Water Association. He was passionate about community improvement and devoted countless hours to charitable causes and civic organizations throughout his life.

Butch embraced life with an adventurous spirit. An avid motorcyclist and accomplished enduro racer, he earned the title of Tri-State Enduro Champion among other prestigious titles.  His love of the outdoors remained a constant throughout his life. He cherished the annual tradition of deer camp for the opportunity to gather family and friends together, share stories and create memories. He also found great joy in caring for his farm and the cemetery, taking pride in the hard work and sense of purpose that came from tending the land.

Music was woven throughout Butch’s life. He spent 60 years performing and entertaining others, sharing his talent and passion with friends, family, and audiences alike. Whether on stage, at community events, or amongst loved ones, he had a unique ability to make people feel welcome and connected.

Butch was kind, dependable and had the most generous heart. He always showed up, got things done, and was the person you could count on. He took pride in caring for others, preserving traditions, and ensuring the people he loved felt supported. He is survived by his children Wendy and Barry Bartholomew (wife Sarah), grandchildren Easten, Chorde, Isaiah, Roe, Grant, his beloved partner Maddy, extended family members, and many dear friends.

Butch’s impact on his community was profound. He was a trusted leader, a devoted family man, a loyal partner, a caring friend and a familiar presence in the lives of countless people. Through all his endeavors and unwavering commitment to others, Butch touched countless lives and his passing leaves an immeasurable void.

He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved. He truly was one of a kind, and top of the line.
