Obituary

Patsy Ellen Moncrief

Age 85, a resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 6, 1939, in Mountainburg, Arkansas, the daughter of Millard F. and Bessie (Snell) Pierce.

From an early age, Patsy worked hard to help her family, starting with berry and tomato picking before waitressing at Bird’s Café in Mountainburg at just 15. She was also a standout athlete at Winslow High School, earning recognition in both basketball and softball. Throughout her life, Patsy carried that same determination, working wherever needed—at the Salvation Army, Campbell Soup, picking berries, cutting grapes, or gathering eggs — always putting her family first.

Patsy’s faith was the foundation of her life. A devoted and faithful Christian woman, she made sure her family knew the Lord’s teachings. She had a heart for gardening and filled her home with flowers, plants, and the bounty of her garden. She loved to cook, bake, and can vegetables—famous among family and friends for her jelly, pecan pies, cornbread dressing, and especially her homemade peanut brittle. An avid reader and lover of Bluegrass music, she also had a gift for conversation, cherishing visits with neighbors, friends, and family. Above all else, her greatest joy was her family, who truly were her world.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Bessie Pierce; her husband of 55 years, Doile G. Moncrief; her eldest daughter, Connie S. Moncrief Preston; granddaughter Makayla; son-in-law Mike Willis; brother Jimmie Ray Pierce; and great-grandson Hoyt Willis.

She is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Willis of Lincoln, Arkansas, and Rhonda Moncrief of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; one granddaughter, Charity Collins and her husband Rusty of Lincoln; four grandsons, Jeff Mongold of Central Arkansas, Jake Willis and his wife Robin of Lincoln, Justin Willis and his wife Sara of Prairie Grove, and Clayton Willis and his wife Candice of Strickler; and five great-grandchildren, Carter Collins, Gracie, J.W., Hunter, and Stetson Willis.

Patsy leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, and love that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

The family will receive friends Monday, September 15, 2025, 7:00-8:00 PM at Luginbuel Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 16th, 2025, at McDonald Cemetery in West Fork, Arkansas.

Tributes

As a teenager and a friend of Connie’s I spent many hours in Patsy & Doile’s home. They were always welcoming and we spent many times In fits of laughter as teenagers girls do. Many times hearing Patsy saying girls…?? Thinking of you all as you navigate this new life without your momma, grandma, great-grandma. May she rest in peace. Warms hugs to you all.

I bought the Moncrief house on Craig St. When visiting with Patsy at her yard sale I will never forget how happy she was after all these years that I was still enjoying my home which she loved too and where she raised her girls. I still have flowers in my yard that she planted and I’ve always called them Patsy’s flowers. Sending prayers and love to you all.
