Jimmie Lawrence Parkerson

85 a resident of Farmington, Arkansas, passed away December 4, 2013 at Willard Walker Hospice in Fayetteville. He was born April 28, 1928 in Norman, Arkansas, the son of Walter Eugene and Eva Mae Robbins Parkerson.

While growing up at Norman he worked in his parent's grocery store, grew tomato plants to sell and rode his bike to nearby caves to gather crystal rocks.

Although his parents did not have the benefit of a good education, they stressed the importance of it to their children and encouraged them to pursue higher education. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and during his career was a medical technologist at the City Hospital, Washington Regional, retiring from the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was a man that wanted what he felt was the best for his family. One of his joys was to ride his tractor plowing his garden. He and Eutha had a booth at the Oak Grove Flea Market in Springdale where he sold guns and he loved to "wheel and deal" with people. He was a member of the Farmington Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Jewel Phillips, Walter Smith, and Celia Mae Loudermilk of Texas; Addelynne Clay of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Cecil Parkerson and Carl Parkerson of Hot Springs.

He is survived by his wife, Eutha Mae Garrett Parkerson of whom he was married to for 60 years, children Cathy Mullen (Terry) of Farmington, sons Walter Parkerson and Patrick Parkerson both of Fayetteville, grandchildren Jeremy Riddle and wife Tiffany of Farmington, Courtney Mullen of Russellville, great grandchildren Kevin, Peyton and Greenlee of Farmington.

Family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2013 - 1:00 P.M. at the Farmington Church of Christ in Farmington Arkansas with Mike Raine officiating. Burial will be in Drakes Creek Cemetery, there will be no graveside services held at the cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Gospel Tract program at Baldwin Church of Christ or Green Valley Bible Camp through the Farmington Church of Christ.
