Obituary

Bobby Darrel Holcroft

Darrel was born February 16th,1938 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, to Leland and Maxine Holcroft. He passed away on September 27, 2023 in West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma, at the age of 85.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great grandson, Henry Pummill.

Those left to cherish his memory are sister, Donna Cantrell (the late Willard) and her family, sons Mark (Linda), Darren (Patti), and daughter Kellie Keen (Jeff). He is also survived by his beloved granddaughters Taeler Holcroft, Alexandra Pummill, and Jaycee Keen. They were all Papaw's buddies! He also leaves behind three great grandchildren, Lily and Jack Pummill, and Stetson Benham.

Darrel married his childhood sweetheart, Charlotte Kidd, at the age of 19, bought a house, and became a landlord at "The Heartbreak Hotel" in Kansas City. Many lifelong friendships were made and cemented at "The Heartbreak." Darrel always worked hard to support his family. He was an electrician in KC until 1969, when he moved with his family to Summers, AR. After he moved, they were in the chicken and cattle business for many years. He was always an avid horse and mulesman, from very early in life. He was a real cowboy and participated in rodeos as a bulldogger. He passed his love of rodeoing to his children and grandchildren. He spent many hours on trail rides with his friends and family. He loved trail riding at Devil's Den and loved horse camp. He enjoyed visiting, telling stories, and being around people with the same interests. He spent many years buying, selling, and trading horses and mules and made lots of friends throughout the years. He loved his family fiercely. He will forever be missed.

The family would like to thank Quail Ridge Living Center and Comforting Hands Hospice for their love and the excellent care they took of our Dad, Papaw, and brother. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Darrel's name to Quail Ridge, Comforting Hands Hospice, or Bethesda Cemetery.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 - 10:00 A.M. at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Darrel's favorite color was red, we'd love to see lots of red. A private graveside service will follow at Bethesda Cemetery in Morrow, Arkansas.

Darrel was definitely one of a kind. He was one of first neighbors that introduced himself when I moved to Westville. What a hoot he was!!!! The generation that I'm so fond of is fading...what I remember most about Darrel is being friendly, kind and very entertaining. It breaks my heart to see you all hurting and having to let him go... But you have so many great pictures and memories!

Love you all!!! Especially my sweet Jaycee!!
