Buel "Buddy" Lyle

I just found out about Buddy's passing. Cecelia Thompson told me. I worked with Buddy for years at the U of A and there was not a finer person. I enjoyed many conversations with the most down to earth man I have ever known.

Buddy made a significant contribution to adult education. I first became aware of Buddy Lyle while he was still working at the University of Texas. He always responded to our many calls for help from Louisiana. He participated in our annual LAPCAE Adult Education Conference and he finally came to work with us at Louisiana Tech University. He did a great job at Tech until he was "called home" to work at the University of Arkansas. I was very sad to learn of his passing and sad for Pat and their family. Buddy will be greatly missed. Buddy was my 8th grade American History teacher.

He was only seven years older but he taught me the love of history.

I've had many "teachers" in my life. I will always remember Buddy as one of the best.

Pat, we are all grateful that Buddy shared his life with us for so many years. He will be sorely missed. His acts of kindness are countless; but he certainly made Sandy Dog's life more pleasant during the months that he came to visit her.

We are honored to have known Buddy as a dedicated volunteer and extremely grateful for the many contributions he made in the true spirit of service. Our heartfelt condolences to Pat and family .

Buddy was a great asset to the Prairie Grove community. His dedication to making Prairie Grove a better place to live is a big loss. Prairie Grove is a better place because of Buddy. He will be missed as both a community leader and my friend.

I was his graduate assistant for three years and he was my committee chair for my dissertation. Being an Adult Education professor, he practiced what he preached and was passionate about his field. I considered my valuable time with him to be my golden years in college. I still made it a point to visit him even though my life journey got me out of Fayetteville. His words still linger in my thoughts and work, even after all these years. I will dearly miss you sir!

Buddy, I will never forget you. You were an inspiration, mentor and colleague. You gave so much to so many - I am blessed to have had you in my life.

May the Lord of all comfort, comfort your hearts at this time of Buddy's passing. What an honor to know him and all your family. What an extra special guy and wonderful family you are. We pray God's grace and peace will envelope you all.

I am truly in a sad state of mind to hear of the passing of Dy Lyle. We worked together in Arkansas Adult Education for years. He touched the lives of so many with good sound advice and at the same time with a sense of humor. Thinking of him helps to bring back great memories time cannot erase.

So, so sorry to hear of Bud's passing. We just saw you at the baseball game and you looked so happy. Please know your friends are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers during this trying time.

It is with a heavy heart that I offer you my deepest sympathy upon the passing of Buddy. May God bless you and comfort you in your loss.

Buddy made the "disaster" of 95-96 at the U of Arkansas very bearable. He did his best to help and guide at the Grad Ed Bldg. RIP to a great man and greater teacher.

Pat and kids..... So sorry for this loss, but what a great guy! We will always remember all the fun times and be thankful to have had them...............love and prayers for you all.

Jimmy and I both had the honor of serving on the City Council with Buddy. He was a kind and thoughtful man. He will be missed by all.

Buddy was a dear friend and a man I held great love in my heart for. He was a great man, Christian, Mason and friend. He was always there when someone was in need. His devotion to the community, his family, friends and strangers were equally and evenly spent with full measure. We have lost a loved one, Heaven has gained a star.

Buddy and I had some really great conversations. He has always been so kind and just a special person. I am so sorry and please know that the entire Lyle family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Dr. Lyle was a phenomenal supporter of adult education and served on the Advisory Board at the NTI Adult Education Center for many years. He will be greatly missed.

I got to know Buddy thru the PG Chamber. I liked him from the start...my kinda guy...funny when it was time to be funny & serious when it was time to be serious. He definitely has made PG a better little town since moving here. I feel so blessed to have known Buddy. You all are in my thoughts & prayers.

Buddy was a great servant to God and to the city of Prairie Grove. I was fortunate enough to serve with him on the City Council and the Chamber of Commerce and his love of both was evident. Buddy always had a kind word for everyone. He will be missed!!

There is no one I respect more than Bud. He was wise, and thoughtful, and giving, and a role model in all aspects of his life. I'm blessed to have gotten to know him and work with him. Saying he will be missed doesn't seem adequate. Heaven is a better place tonight.
