Katherine Orian
84, a long time resident of Lincoln, Arkansas, went to her rest on November 28, 2011 in Van Buren, Arkansas. She was born December 9, 1926 in Krasnystaw, Poland, into the Golonka family.
Katherine met Peter Orian in Germany where they married in 1947. In 1949, they came on the U.S.S. Omar Bundy, a former naval transport ship, to the United States, landing in New Orleans. After a brief stay in Chicago with Katherine’s family who had helped sponsor them, they moved to Oakland, California. It was in Oakland that two sons were added to their home, Nicholas and Stephen.
In 1956, Katherine and Peter moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where Katherine worked for 12 years as a seamstress. In 1968, the family moved once again, this time to Lincoln, Arkansas, where Katherine assisted Peter in raising chickens and cattle on their farm. The farm would be home base for the Orian family for the next 36 years. After the death of Peter in 2003, Katherine spent her final years in Van Buren, Arkansas. She was a faithful member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Nicholas Orian and his wife, Kathleen, of Dallas, Texas and Stephen Orian and his wife, Micki, of Shreveport, Louisiana; four grandchildren: Angela Sanchez, Anthony Orian, Benjamin Orian and Matthew Orian; and seven great-grandchildren: Katie Sanchez, Kevin Sanchez, Dominic Orian, Siena Orian, Jacob Orian, Hailey Orian, and Madison Orian.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 2, 2011 - 1:00 P.M. at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery in Morrow, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be: Nicholas Orian, Stephen Orian, Anthony Orian, Benjamin Orian, and Matthew Orian.
