Roy Clayton “Tubby” Shannon 91, of Lincoln, AR gained his heavenly wings on Friday July 25, 2025. He was born on November 28,1933 in Odell, AR as the son of Lacy Tolbert and Pearl Mae Hurst Shannon.
He was an active member of the First Assembly of God church in Lincoln, AR
At the age of 20,Tubby was drafted by the United States Army for 2 years stationed at Ft. Eustis, VA. He was aboard a barge in Narsarssuak and Simiutak in the country of Greenland.
Once discharged Tubby attended barber school in Tulsa, OK in 1957.
Tubby married his sweetheart, Charlotte Goldman, of Evansville, AR on September 8,1967.
Tubby was proceeded in death by his parents, one brother Cecil Shannon of Evansville, AR, three sisters Oleta Reed of Prairie Grove, AR, Juanita Anderson of Farmington, AR, and Benita Aston of Springdale, AR and one godson Austin Deere.
Survivors include his wife of the home of 57 years, one daughter Sharla RoAanne Shannon Pike and husband James of Lincoln, AR, one sister Querita Faddis and husband Joe of Prairie Grove, AR, two brothers Jimmie Shannon of Fort Smith, AR and Leroy Shannon and wife Karen of Morrow, AR, One grandson Clayton Wayne Edward Pike of Lincoln, AR. Also several nieces, nephews, cousins, and his church family and friends.
During Tubby’s life he was a true servant of God. He showed his faith in everyday life such as: Serving as a board member, superintendent and he was instrumental in building the new current sanctuary of the Centerpoint Church of God in Prairie Grove, AR.
Tubby was a longtime barber in the Northwest AR area for almost 70 years. Tubby’s life achievements were many such as: serving as a Lincoln City Councilman, Lincoln Kiwanis Club member, a farm consisting of dairy and beef cattle and 2 laying hen houses. And was also an over the road truck driver for Allen Canning Company.
As a couple, Tubby and Charlotte’s hobbies included, visiting and cooking for family and friends, traveling, buying, remodeling, and selling houses. Most of all watching their grandson Clay play various sports growing up.
One of Tubby’s passions also was buying, trading, and selling all sorts of automobiles and equipment. Tubby’s priorities were always his Lord, his family, and his country.
