L. V. Vickery
Age 87, a lifetime resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas went to be with Jesus on January 1, 2025. He was born December 24, 1937 in Cove Creek, Arkansas to Charles “Link” Lincoln Vickery and Ollie Bell Phillips Vickery.
He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1973. It became his life long mission to be an honest, faithful, diligent servant of the Lord! His heart and passion were to preach God‘s word and lead others to Christ. Everyone who came in contact with him knew that he loved Jesus and that he loved them. He served in his community whenever there was a need. He was a pastor for over 46 years mostly at Liberty 86 Church where he served until 2022.
His hobbies included deer hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He loved to challenge himself to build things out of stuff that people would not normally use. He was a man of many talents!
He was a Jack of all trades. Over the years he operated a dozer, a skidder for logging, and a bucket truck for trimming trees. He worked at Kelly Canning Co. for years doing various jobs. He retired from the University of Arkansas after working 17 years in the garage and for the grounds crew. Retirement allowed him more time to devote to ministry.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers CL Vickery and Rue Vickery and three sisters Lillian Barnes, Oma Bennett, and Norma Brockman.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Lorene Vickery, three daughters, Betty (Jim) Sargent of Strickler, Arkansas, LeAnn (Byron) Suggs, of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and Susan (Toby) Slinkard of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Five granddaughters, Cari (Mark) Burnett of Farmington, Arkansas, Libby (Wyatt) Wagner of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Brianna Suggs of Arlington, Virginia, Lauren (Garrett) Sims of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and Sophia Slinkard of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Four great grandchildren, Calloway Burnett, Wyndon Wagner, Weston Wagner, and Amelia Sims. One brother, Olan Vickery of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 5, 2025, 2:00-4:00 PM at Luginbuel Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Monday, January 6th, 2025, at New Sulphur Freewill Baptist Church in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Burial will be in the Prairie Grove Cemetery, there will be no graveside services held.
