Jim McKinney
Age 83, a resident of Derby, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025 in Mulvane, Kansas. He was born May 7, 1941 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, the son of Claiborn and Frances (Morton) McKinney.
He attended school in Prairie Grove and graduated high school in 1959. He loved basketball and was on the Tigers team throughout high school. After graduation he attended the College of the Ozarks and later joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at McConnell AFB in Wichita, Kansas. He finished college at Wichita State University with a degree in psychology. He worked as a store manager for JC Penney Co and retired from there in 1993.
Jim and his mother were members of the Prairie Grove Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Scott.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Jan McKinney; three daughters Kristine, Brenda and Kelly; and nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 15, 2025, 9:30-10:30 AM at Luginbuel Chapel with funeral service at 10:30 A.M. officiated by Rev. Judy Hall of Prairie Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Prairie Grove Cemetery, there will be no graveside services held.
